Introduction
Our Mission
The REC-Room Team
Other Volunteers
A volunteer team of Unitarian Universalist (UU) religious educators first met in the fall of 1997 to develop a place on the internet where UU curriculum materials can be contributed, accessed and reviewed. With the help of grants from the Unitarian Universalist Sunday School Society and the Fund for Unitarian Universalists (see acknowledgements), we have been able to develop the site that you see at present. REC-Room is a grassroots effort and not a department of the UUA.
Our goal is to collect and organize feedback from religious educators on curricula they have used with a:
* Forum to share uncopyrighted materials
* Summary of UU & UU-related curriculum materials
* Place for users to give suggestions, comments, improvements
Our Mission is:
To bring together Unitarian Universalist religious educators (MREs, DREs, and teachers) from around the world and make their combined knowledge and experience universally available via modern electronic means. To help local and district religious educators:
(1) select curricular resources that meet the needs of their religious education programs;
(2) adapt those resources to best maximize the free and responsible search for truth and meaning among Unitarian Universalist children, youth, and adults; and
(3) improve existing curricula and develop new curricular materials.
The REC-Room Team is a group of volunteers who wish
to help with the decision-making for this web site, which includes but is not
limited to site design, content, management, and fundraising. If you would like
to join or have questions for this team, please click on the link to their names
and send them an email message or email rec-room at rec-room.org (replace the "at" with "@" & use the subject "REC-Room" to prevent spam and help assure that your message is not mistaken for spam).
The Steering Committee consists of a chair, a vice-chair, a secretary-treasurer, and two additional members (links to names go to email, but require javascript to protect them from spam.:

We ask readers of Reach-l, the UUA's email list for religious educators, to locate resources within the discussion on the list that can be posted on the site. If they're suggestions for books or links, you can post them yourself. If they're unique ideas or curricula, please send a reminder to the poster (or the entire list as a reminder) to please add it to the site. A list of correspondents who have registered to add information to the site is here.
