Theme and Description

This is two curricula in one binder. Part I is for parents;, caregivers, and teachers. Part II, a "curriculum" for infants and toddlers, is directed to the carcgiver. Part II provides resources, guidelines, and structure for a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for young children.

Goals for Participants

To explore attitudes, feelings, and ideas about caring fo children
To develop effective, respectful, harmonious ways of relating to children
To provide an experience congruent with our religious values.

Age Range Adults: parents, caregivers, teachers

Size of Group 10 or fewer

Space Requirements Comfortable meeting space

Number of Sessions Part I: 10; Part II: 11

Length of Sessions Adult program: 1 to 1 1/2 hours

Leader Training part I provides training for Part II

Strengths

Addresses the need to provide nursery/preschool care that corresponds with the congregation's religious education philosophy for older children, youth, and adults
Draws on the "inner wisdom" of each caregiver; does not impose a methodology or philosophy
Contains excellent background material and specific scenarios and suggestions
Nurtures the growth of caregivers as well as children.

Limitation Expects caregivers to read, observe, and reflect on their thoughts and feelings each week.

Adaptability Good preparation for setting up childcare in a congregation or at a camp or conference Could be used as a parenting. program for new or expectant parents.
