What we liked about the curriculum:
The Bible stories are retold in interesting ways, highlighting themes that we don't always associate with particular tales. I occasionally used the curriculum's version of a story in other settings, such as group activities with multi-age children or intergenerational worship services.
Also, one child had come to our church from a heavily Christian background. He had trouble adjusting, because it didn't feel like "church" compared to what he was familiar with. His mother borrowed this curriculum and occasionally used it in discussion with him, which helped him make connections between what he knew as "../REligion" and what our church is about.
What we didn't like about the curriculum:
Our teachers found that this curriculum was more Bible oriented than we had expected. The teachers who selected it had read only a summary description that suggested it contained sacred stories from world religions, but in fact it is completely Bible based. At first they tried to supplement it with similarly-themed stories from other sacred texts, but this was very time-consuming. Ultimately they abandoned the curriculum altogether, about mid-way through the year.
