We just put together a K-1 pillar on the sources to follow up the P&P curriculum they did in UU I.D. last year, and all but two of the lessons came out of Stories About God. I don't have the lesson numbers with me at home, but I can get those if anyone's interested.
We put together the other two lessons, the introduction to the pillar and the lesson about science. The introductory lesson is a review of the P&P's where the class goes on a treasure hunt around the church looking for various things that represent each of the principles: a basket of small,
multicultural dolls for P1, a basket of M&M's and the chance to vote on whether they like plain or peanut for P5, a giant peace sign for P6, things like that.
The science lesson uses the material on Alexander Graham Bell from the UU Kids' Book (available from Melinda Anderson at (781)275-2762), including making and using the electromagnet. (Or, if the teachers feel uncomfortable doing all of that with a group so young, they will *demonstrate* the electromagnet and the kids will make paper cup telephones.) Their snack that day will incorporate some taste experiments that we found in Parenting magazine.
We found that the sources make a great structure for a pillar: Introduction plus 6 sources = 7 lessons!
