A Litany of Covenant
with Religious Education Class Leaders

Director of Religious Education:
We thank you this morning for your commitment to this church, to Unitarian Universalism, and especially to our children and youth. We have asked you to accept a great responsibility: helping our children and youth grow and develop within this community. We wish you to know that we acknowledge the responsibility you have accepted and respect the commitment you have made.

Minister:
We thank you for the time you spend in the ministry of teaching, caring for, and being with the children and youth of this community. We ask you to keep in mind that what you are doing is ministry. Our children and youth are growing souls. Tend them with care and love.

Parents:
We thank you for your willingness to be with our children. We ask you to remember that how you treat them and how you interact with each other teaches them more about who we are and what we believe than any lesson.

Children & Youth:
We thank you for being our leaders. We look forward to spending time with you, having fun with you, and learning from you. We ask that you always remember that we are people, too, and that you respect us.

Leaders:
We welcome the responsibilities and the privileges of being in the classrooms with our children and youth. We promise to bring our joy, talents, and energy to helping them grow as the beautiful individuals they are and will become. We ask that each person in this community support us in this endeavor. Be there when we need help. Listen to us when we need your ears.

Congregation:
We acknowledge and honor the role that you have within our community. We know that this is not something you can do alone. We are all teachers and we will strive to remember that. We are all here to help and support you, each in our own way.

All:
We are all part of this one community, children, youth and adults alike. May we all welcome the gifts we bring to each other so that we can grow and be enriched by our time together.
