Description:
We held a very successful funraiser, selling Family Pastimes Co-operative games. The congregation loved being able to buy Christmas presents for their children, grandchildren, and schools that reflected our values. These games are based on many of our principles; caring for the earth, community, respect for others, etc. The company offers a 50% profit to fundraisers, and the games are very reasonably priced. And the children love to play them!

Book Donation plan:

At the end of the year I ask parents (and anyone else) to contribute to a book fund to honor teachers. From the money collected, I buy books for our library in honor of the teachers. We put a name plate in each book. Parents like this idea and so do teachers.

Book Fair as Fundraiser

My book fair experience has been through Chinaberry. We plan for thepurchases
to arrive by Christmas, and you have to get the ball rolling(by contacting them and providing the needed info.) at least a couple of months in advance.

Advantages:

1. You only get the books/materials you ordered, so you don't have to ship back any extras.

2. Customers don't have to pay for shipping and handling, so regular Chinaberry customers can    save themselves some money by ordering from you.

3. There is a rebate-- you make a little money if your sales surpass $200

Disadvantages:

1. Orders are through the catalog-- people don't get to check out the materials themselves before purchase, but the Chinaberry catalog is very thorough and inviting.

2. If books that have been ordered aren't in stock; you'll need to call Chinaberry back later and/or issue a refund to your customer.

Chinaberry has a book fair information packet, Details are printed in the catalog. They do a wonderful job of organizing the whole thing from their end. Chinaberry has wonderful selections, and  I feel it's a pleasure to support them. When you place your order, the whole process goes more quickly if you can put the tab on a credit card. Otherwise, you need to collect the money from the individual customers, make out one check to cover the total, and wait till yourcheck has arrived at Chinaberry before they can send out your order.

When we've been organized enough, we've asked one of the church school classes to serve the church by helping put together the individual orders. The shipment arrives in several large boxes, and orders aren't packaged together.
